My printing and shipping process

I print on premium fine art papers — primarily Canson and Moab — chosen for their archival quality, surface textures, and color fidelity. These papers are among the best available for fine art and photography, offering consistent whiteness, excellent ink absorption, and longevity suitable for gallery and collector work.

All prints are produced on a Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 professional series printer. This wide-format pigment ink printer uses an 11-color LUCIA PRO II ink set, which expands the color gamut and improves tone transitions, shadow detail, and color accuracy. The combination of the printer’s advanced print head technology and the multi-channel ink set allows for smooth gradients, deep blacks, and vibrant, true-to-life colors — essential for faithfully reproducing the subtle hues and details in nature photography.

Archival permanence is central to my process. The pigment inks and the archival-grade Canson and Moab papers I use are rated to last for upwards of 200 years when properly handled and displayed. To help ensure longevity, I follow archival best practices during printing and finishing, including:

• Using only pigment-based inks rather than dye inks for enhanced lightfastness and stability.

• Selecting paper based on intended finish (textured, matte, or smooth) and archival ratings.

• Minimizing handling of the print surface; using clean gloves when necessary.

• Allowing prints to fully cure before shipping. ( Prints will be shipped 24-48 hours after the print had been made. )

• Shipping process

  • Small prints

    • Each print is wrapped first in acid-free tissue to protect the surface and prevent sticking or abrasion.

    • The tissue-wrapped print is then wrapped in craft paper for added protection and rigidity.

    • The finished package is placed in a stay-flat envelope to keep the print flat and shield it from bending during transit.

    • Envelopes are labeled and shipped with a carrier that provides tracking.

  • Large prints

    • Each large print is wrapped in acid-free tissue to preserve the paper and image.

    • The tissue-wrapped print is then wrapped in craft paper for extra protection.

    • Wrapped prints are placed inside a sturdy shipping tube, which is the safest option for transporting larger artwork because it prevents creasing and crushing.

    • Tubes are capped securely, labeled, and shipped with tracking.

  • Acid-free materials are used throughout to ensure archival quality and prevent long-term damage.

  • Packaging procedures prioritize keeping prints flat (small sizes) or rigid and cylindrical (large sizes) to avoid creases, bends, or surface damage.
